The road from Kishorn to Applecross goes up the Bealach na Ba, or Pass of the Cattle and over Meall Gorm. This steep, narrow road is one of the highest, most dramatic and scenic in Scotland. From sea level it rises to a height of over 2,000 feet with hairpin bends and a gradient of 1 in 4.

From the car park at the top there are panoramic views over the Inner Sound to Raasay, Skye, Scalpay and on a very clear day across Southern Skye to the islands of Rum and Eigg.

The scene depicted is the view from the road to Ardarroch looking up Bealach na Ba.
