Shieldaig from the road to Applecross
There are 16 thread colours and in this design some, but not many, half stitches and backstitches have been used to give a more realistic look. These are very important as they add the finishing touch giving a smooth look particularly to the skyline.
Finished size of this design is 100 x 75 stitches, approx. 7” x 5”

Shieldaig, ‘Sildeag’ from the Norse meaning Herring Bay, lies at the head of Loch Shieldaig, which feeds into Loch Torridon. In this design the village is seen from the road to Applecross with the imposing crags of the Torridons behind. This is just one of the many spectacular views of this very pretty village.
If you dare, follow the road round past Applecross and over the steep Bealach Na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) with its spectacular hairpin bends and stunning views.
