This picturesque village with its palm trees growing along the front is a National Trust conservation village and is often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Highlands’. There is no wonder it was chosen as a location for the television series ‘Hamish MacBeth’.

It sits aside a sheltering promontory or ploc and with other surrounding crags it is protected very effectively and palm trees grow successfully along the main street.

Situated on an inlet off Loch Carron, Plockton boasts a natural harbour with sheltered moorings and so attracts many sailors. There is even a Sailing Regatta held every summer, usually during the last week in July and the first week in August.
