Lochcarron
There are 20 thread colours and in this design some, but not many, half stitches and backstitches have been used to give a more realistic look. These are very important as they add the finishing touch giving a more defined shape to the mountains and to the gulls in the foreground.
Finished size of this design is 100 x 75 stitches, approx. 7” x 5”

This well-known village at the foot of Glen Carron is strung along the shore of Loch Carron facing south.
Originally a planned fishing/crofting village like Ullapool it remained isolated, as there was no road connecting it to the east until many years later and no road south until the road around the loch was built in the 1960’s.
The long, deep sea loch is wonderful for sailing and the area offers golf, woodland walks and other attractions.
The beautiful Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh railway runs the other side of the loch.
This view includes Fuar Tholl (cold hollow) locally known as Wellington’s Nose and the Lochcarron foreshore viewed from Slumbay Harbour.
